Dialogue writing

The class have been writing short dialogues and illustrating them.  They have been learning that their story has to have a problem and clear writing so it can be read easily.

Maui and the sun

We have been reading Maui and the Sun as our shared book. The students had to choose the part of the book they liked. Using Explain everything they created part of the story and wrote what happened.

I am a Star Poem

This weeks Poem

I am a star

I am a star and I will dream big 

I will reach for the clouds

And touch the moon along the way

I will push off the ground 

and into the earth my heels will dig

I will aim for the sky 

and won’t come down ‘till the bright of day

Space Rockets

We have been learning about how a rocket works.  The class watched a video that showed the Dragon spacecraft being launched into space to then attach to a space station.  Here is some of the children's writing and a photo of our own example of how a rocket needs the right amount of fuel to get liftoff.

Bee Bot the robot

Bee Bot the robot has come to our room

Tap in the code and watch him zoom

From our house to the shop, Bee Bot will go

Remembering lockdown is what I know

With the children programming a code 

We can get him out and down the road

Being safe in our bubbles has got us through

Bee Bot the robot can’t visit the zoo

I hope Bee Bot can stay two metres away

As he’s going past the school on this level 2 day

Left, right, one, two, three, forward, back

We are clever and will get Bee Bot on track.

Space Walking Poem

This is our poem for this week. It relates to our writing about the launching of the SpaceX rocket.

Space Walking

I can walk out in space 

In this still and starry place

I can roll round and round

I can dance without a sound

I can dive, I can swoop

I can twist round in a loop

I can float, I can swirl

I can spin, I can twirl

I can rise, I can fall

I can bounce like a ball

I can zoom back to base

In my rocket out in space

Bee Bot Action

Over the last week we have been creating towns that replicate "Lockdown".  Some things we have included are: our houses, grassy paddocks, the supermarket, the school that is closed, the closed toy shops, closed playgrounds and of course the empty roads.  Now we are busy programming our Bee Bots so they can head out on an adventure.
